My name is Amy Bojar, I’m 26 years old and I live in West Yorkshire.
Unfortunately, since 2011, I have been battling a chronic illness. Until early 2017, I was a ‘medical mystery’, undergoing countless tests and passed from pillar to post to different departments, hospitals and specialist consultants. I was finally diagnosed with Cushing’s in 2017 and underwent life saving brain surgery on 8 May 2017, removing my tumour, resulting in adrenal insufficiency. I suffered a relapse from Cushing’s in October 2018, gaining 14kg in just under 5 weeks. Due to being unable to undergo neurosurgery again due to the dangers, I am having a bilateral adrenalectomy (BLA) on 30 January 2019.
This journey has changed my life.
I am incredibly lucky to be blessed with the most supportive husband in the entire world. Daniel is my rock and I seriously don’t know where I would be without him.
Probably not on this earth, to be honest. We got married in February 2015 and it was the most perfect day. We bought our first house in the summer of 2015 and bought our little fur baby, Willow. (No longer a baby, she’s now a fully grown German Shepherd!) I really don’t know how he has had the patience and strength to put up with me and stand by me through all of this not once, but twice – I don’t think there are many men out there that would! That’s why he’s my best friend.
I enjoy music, films, beauty and travelling.
I have recently realised that life is too short to worry about what people think and care about people that don’t care about you. I have the best relationships with my close family (my Mum and Dave, my Grandma & Grandad and my brother Sam) and I am so grateful for everything that they do for me.
I graduated from University in 2014 with a 2:1 BA (Hons) in History and up until 2017, worked as a Legal Recruitment Consultant.
I enjoy writing and find it almost cathartic writing down my thoughts, apologies if some of my posts come across as word vomit. If you wish to get in touch, please do!
